The following is the text of the FAQ section of the website (which is no longer online) for the Syndicate for Comestibles and Underwriters for Alimentation and Refreshments (SQUAR). SCUAR was a dystopian government agency invented by two friends and me for an abandoned cryptocurrency scavenger hunt project in 2018.
To begin the scavenger hunt, which would have taken place in a post-post-scarcity future version of Oakland, CA, participants would have needed to enroll in the SCUAR Access Initiative. They’d be confronted with a complicated and tedious process meant to parody the sometimes challenging experience of accessing government assistance in the United States. Once enrolled, they would be directed to the first scavenger hunt location to begin their adventure.
